Regional Divisions of CIRR
As Reading Recovery expanded across Canada it became necessary to
create regional divisions. Under the umbrella of the Canadian
Institute of Reading Recovery, the country has been divided into the
Atlantic, Central, Western, and Mountain-Pacific divisions.
The trainers at these divisions support the implementation of
Reading Recovery in boards and districts across their region through
the training and ongoing professional development of teachers and
teacher leaders, teaching children, and working with administrators
to strengthen the implementation. Divisions are responsible for
collecting and analyzing data for their region and submitting it
annually to the CIRR.

CIRR Atlantic Division
Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Atlantic Division supports
the implementation of Reading Recovery in the provinces of Nova
Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. A full-time English
trainer oversees the training and support of teacher leaders while a
second bilingual trainer is contracted to oversee the implementation
of Reading Recovery for Francophone and French immersion children in
Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, and
Ontario.
In addition to providing training and ongoing support to teacher
leaders, trainers consult with administrators in order to strengthen
implementations in boards in both official languages. Teacher leader
certification can be applied toward a masters of education degree
through Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax.
