DLL teacher leaders and other educators throughout the state of
Texas met with Rep. Nick Lampson and Rep. Rubén Hinojosa, chair of
the House Higher Education Subcommittee at Fort Bend ISD in Houston
on April 25, 2008. Chairman Hinojosa and Rep. Lampson were very
generous with their time. In addition to the lesson, they received
packets with information on Reading Recovery and DLL including the
Executive Summary, the DLL fact sheet, “Spotlights One on One
Teaching” brochure, and the What Works Clearinghouse report.
Special thanks to Laura Ramos, chair of the RRCNA DLL Committee,
Mary Jackson, RRCNA treasurer and site coordinator at Fort Bend ISD
and Yvonne Rodriguez, trainer, for organizing the event.
