Learning Journeys
Originally recorded in 2007
Presenter:
Mary Fried, Reading Recovery trainer
Columbus, OH
Length of Session:
71 minutes
Session description:
In Clay's research, observations, and the
development of highly effective procedures for teaching young
children to read and write have opened a 'misty window' about the
nature of the brain and how young children learn. Learning journeys
are slow at first but then become fast. For some, the learning
journey is confused and needs to be interrupted and supported in a
different way. for others, teachers need to clarify learning
using a brief detour to help the child gain momentum. Explore
different examples of learning journeys through student examples and
videotapes.
